Our Events and Initiatives

From spearheading Baltimore’s first city-wide health-screening event to partnering with the National Institutes of Health, Times Community Services (TCS) and its long-time collaborator, The Baltimore Times, have set the pace for innovation, community engagement, and information sharing. Chosen by the Office of Minority Health Resource Center to lead the local “Take a Loved One to the Doctor” campaign, TCS has always made partnership the cornerstone of its impact. More than two decades ago, a collaboration with the University of Maryland School of Medicine created one of the region’s first telehealth links with South Africa, and the Center for Lendistry, launched by TCS, continues to expand access to capital for minority-owned businesses.

TCS also broke new ground in media and technology: working with local tech firms, it became the area’s first organization to weave AI, AR, and VR into storytelling, producing an immersive, interactive pop-up exhibition. Its partner, The Baltimore Times, introduced the city’s inaugural reader-driven poll honoring Black-owned businesses, and together the two organizations, along with renowned artist Larry “Poncho” Brown, founded Creatively Black Baltimore—the region’s largest showcase of Black art. Through every initiative, our mission remains constant: to uplift, empower, inform, and inspire the communities we serve.
